Eyelash extensions are an incredibly popular beauty trend, and it is no wonder why – they are a great way to accentuate the eyes and create an eye-catching look. However, there is a lot of skill involved in applying eyelash extensions, and it can be easy for beginner lash artists to make mistakes. In this blog post, we will discuss five common mistakes that beginner lash artists often make so that you can avoid them!
1. Using Too Much or Too Little Adhesive: One of the most important steps when applying eyelash extensions is using the correct amount of adhesive. If too much adhesive is used, the lashes may end up sticking together and creating a messy look. On the other hand, if too little adhesive is used then the lashes will not stay on for long and may fall off prematurely. It is important to find the perfect balance between too much and too little adhesive when applying eyelash extensions.
2. Incorrect Styling: Another mistake that beginners often make when applying eyelash extensions is not styling them correctly. Eyelash extensions should be applied in a way that complements your natural lashes and enhances your overall look. This means taking into account things such as length, thickness, curl type, etc., when selecting which type of lashes to use for each individual client. Not following these guidelines could result in an unnatural or unflattering look.
3. Not Following The Correct Pre-Treatment: Applying eyelash extensions without properly preparing the area beforehand can lead to issues such as skin irritation or even infection. To reduce this risk it is important to cleanse the area with oil-free makeup remover prior to application, as well as apply an appropriate primer or sealant afterwards. Taking these precautions not only helps keep clients safe but also ensures that their lash extensions last longer and look better for longer!
4. Distance From The Eyelid: When applying eyelash extensions it is important to remember that they should never come into contact with the skin underneath your eyes or along your upper or lower lid line. If they do, this could lead to irritation or even damage to your natural lashes! It’s best practice for all lash technicians to measure 0.5-2 millimetres from the lash base to where you want your extension to start before starting application so you can ensure that they are safely away from any delicate areas of skin surrounding the eyes.
5. Not Placing Eye Patches Correctly: Placing eye patches on clients incorrectly can cause discomfort during application which can impact how successful you are at achieving desired results with their lash set! To avoid this issue it’s important to ensure that eye patches are placed securely around each eye without any gaps where adhesive may seep through onto sensitive skin areas causing irritation or other issues down the line. Additionally, be sure not to place patches too tightly either as this could also be uncomfortable for clients during application time!
Applying eyelash extensions requires a lot of skill and precision in order for them to look their best – something that beginners sometimes forget about! By understanding some of these common mistakes made by those new to lashing we hope this blog post has provided useful information so you can confidently start creating beautiful sets with ease! And remember - practice makes perfect so don’t get discouraged if at first you don’t succeed - keep practicing until you master each step of lashing correctly! Good luck!
